High Heels & Cocktails was established after Dawn stressed for 2 years about her own wedding day. She overcame a lot of obstacles such as venues that wouldn’t allow a party to continue after midnight and everybody telling her that 6 bridesmaids was far too many.

“People really do feel they have to do what everyone tells them to do, i.e. bagpipes, kilts, little ivory boxes filled with almonds, it all makes for a sort of conveyor belt day, I really believe that no two weddings should be the same, it should be a day that reflects the styles and attitudes of the happy couple, it is one day in your entire life where you get to do whatever you wish and I think we should all take advantage of that”

What she did was totally unique, yes the ceremony, like many before was held at Doune Castle in Perthshire but it was laid back and relaxed and booked because the couple are avid fans of Monty Python, The Holy Grail was filmed here. The 6 bridesmaids created an atmosphere to the day that it was all about the couple and their friends. After the ceremony the guests all sipped champagne and ate little fairy cakes to keep them going to the meal in Glasgow. The reception was held at The Living Room where the couple enjoy nights out and so approached them to host their party. They gained a late licence for the day which meant they and their guests could party on until 3am. The guests all travelled by vintage bus to the venue so that everyone could leave their cars at home and have a drink with the couple.

Dawn loves parties and is always throwing them for her friends; she even planned a tea party for her friend’s birthday last year where the girls all drank tea (from a proper china tea service) and champagne and ate little sandwiches and fairy cakes. It made for something different and all the girls loved the old fashioned, fun and girlie approach to the day.
“It is rewarding to do something decadent once in a while, after working so hard during the week it’s always a comfort to know at the weekend you can relax and have a laugh with your closest friends, that, to me is what a fantastic party should be all about”

Attention to detail and a flair for colour matching are Dawn’s trademarks, she always strives to make everything look fantastic to the eye which also makes for great photographs in the end too.
